Balloon Dog Ornament Silicone Resin Mould
Balloon Dog Ornament Silicone Resin Mould
Out of stock
This is a cut mould that is intricate and not easy to use. We do not recommend this mould if you do not have experience using cut moulds.
Create a fully three-dimensional balloon dog out of resin! The casting measures around 10x10cm with approximately 95g of resin. There are three sections that have cuts (front, back and between the front and back legs).
A few notes:
There is a cavity under the chin. When pouring, fill in the ears and head section first and then tilt the mould to release the air bubble under the chin.
Align the cuts until they are not visible and then apply the elastic band once you have filled in the head portion to avoid misaligning the cuts when you tilt the mould.
This mould has a step gap at the top which means the mould slightly extends higher than needed and should not be filled to the brim.
Stand the mould in a container in case of leakage. While I have never experienced leaks with cut moulds, it is always better to be safe than sorry.
Cut moulds require post-processing, the extent of which varies depending on the alignment of the mould before pouring and personal preference. I've had success with casting in cut moulds where the cut seam was virtually invisible and no post-processing was needed. Other times I was able to quickly clean up thin flakes along the cut with a craft knife. In some cases though sanding and polishing along the seam were required.
